The club was formed in 1988 by some 12 people with an interest in all forms of boating - from dinghy sailing to cruising both power and sail. These each contributed £5 to get the club off the ground.
The aim of the club is to promote & facilitate the sport of boating, both sail & power, to provide for the study of seamanship and to provide social and other facilities whenever possible.
The club is in the second decade of its life and now has some 50 + members who come to club nights to talk about things boating and enjoy talks covering a wide range of interest to the sailor.
We currently meet at Borough Sports Ground, Gander Green Lane, Sutton, Surrey every Thursday evening at 20.00 until approximately 22.00. (51.366oN 0.2046oW) Prospective members are very welcome to come and visit us on any club night.
We have a very full list of events with a talk on most Thursday evenings, and several visits to places of interest to leisure sailors. See our programme in ‘What’s On’.
Our newsletter, under the name of ‘Baggywrinkle’, is published throughout the year with stories from members, recipes, hints & tips and general information. ( to find out what a baggywrinkle is and its purpose, send an email to the address below or come along on a Thursday evening )
We also have various rallies every season which usually take place in the Solent Area. For a list of current events click here.
